Aidan Race
Eagle Scout - March 12, 2019
Project - Rebuild the Youth Division, Little League Baseball field on Spring Street in Adams NY.
Aidan Race began his scouting career in 2007 as a Tiger Cub in Cub Scout Pack 37 at Mannsville Manor Elementary School.
Aidan achieved the highest rank in cub scouts, Arrow of Light, in 2012.
He joined Boy Scout Troop 37 in 2012 and then, along with several other scouts, founded Boy Scout Troop 586 on July 1, 2013.
Aidan has served in many leadership positions during his scouting career including Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, and Order of the Arrow Representative. Aidan served on the 2015 Tri-Rivers District Camporee Committee and was an instructor for the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops Course at Scouting University.
In 2016, Aidan was recognized, along with one of his fellow scouts, by New York State Senator Patty Ritchie for coming to the aid of 150 people stranded in a winter snow storm while they were sheltered at the Adams Volunteer Fire Department. He helped make sandwiches and boy scout baked beans to feed the stranded motorists.
Mr. Race has twice traveled to Scotland to attend the Blair Atholl Camporette. The first time he went with a contingent of scouts from across Longhouse Council. In 2018, Aidan led two other scouts from Troop 586 to attend the camporette in Scotland.
Aidan's project was rebuilding an old, decrepit baseball diamond that was unsafe for children to use. With Aidans planning and oversight, and after 200 hours of service, the field was completely rebuilt and returned to play.
