586ers help with color guard

Troop 65 in Alex Bay NY needed help serving as a special honor guard carrying a huge U.S. Flag that flew over the barracks that were bombed by terrorists in Beirut Lebanon during the 1980's. They knew who to call for help, Troop 586. With just two days notice, 586 turned out 6 scouts and two leaders to drive up and provide their brothers in scouting a hand. The scouts carried the flag for about a mile in hot and humid weather. The scouts carried the flag to the veterans memorial park. at the park the scouts had to carefully fold the giant flag and presented it to a Chief Warrant Officer who ten presented the flag to a representative of the American Legion

Leadership Challenge Primitive Camping Weekend
August 14 - 15, 2015
Three older scouts from Troop 586 participated in our first Leadership Challenge Weekend Primitive Camping Event. The scouts were challenged with a dynamic camping experience involving setting up a tarp to sleep under for the weekend; designing, purchasing and cooking their own menu; and a variety of leadership and team development activities in addition to having fun free time. The scouts journeyed into Lorraine Gulf in the Town of Lorraine. The scouts learned a lo about themselves and how to work together during the weekend.
